POSITION GOAL:

 

To provide consultation, coaching, direct and indirect support/services to identified students with ASD and assist teachers, parents, support staff and administrators with educational planning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Masters degree in Education or a field of study related to Special Education.
  • Valid teaching certificate with ASD Endorsement.
  • Approved as Teacher Consultant or ability to receive that approval under MI Special Education               Administrative rules.
  • Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
  • Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Provide consultation, coaching, direct and indirect support/service to students with ASD              consistent with the student’s IEP.
  2. Assist in programming for students with ASD.
  3. Assist in the development of IEPs for students with ASD.
  4. Provide consultation, coaching, direct and indirect support/service to teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the individual needs of the student with ASD.
  5. Provide training to parents, teachers, administration and support staff who are responsible for delivering support/services to students with ASD.
  6. Assist in providing, maintaining, and transporting necessary equipment and materials to assist in the student’s education.
  7. Perform systematic direct observation of students.
  8. Maintain a schedule and documentation of consultations, observations, and visitations.
  9. Prepare written reports, including observations and recommendations.
  10. Inform parents of sources of assistance which are available to them.
  11. Assist teams in the identification and re-evaluation of students with disabilities and develop                appropriate, required documents.
  12. Maintain and organize ASD lending library.
  13. Keep current on all evidence based practices and universal supports related to ASD.
  14. Participate in all START related trainings, conferences and leadership days.
  15. Attend monthly SMART regional collaborative meetings.
  16. Assist SMART collaborative with annual START grant.
  17. Demonstrate sufficient computer knowledge and skills necessary for electronic record-keeping.
  18. Work cooperatively with other ISD and local district staff, parents and community service agencies, as needed.
  19. Collaborate with parents, multidisciplinary evaluation team members, school administrators and other community agencies to develop an accurate understanding of a student’s disability and the impact of the disability on the student’s educational performance.
  20. Other duties as assigned by the St. Joseph County ISD Administration.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS:  Special Education Monitor for Accountability and Program Improvement

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary for this position is based on the IEA Master Agreement

 

 This position includes a three year sign on bonus:

                                           $2,500:  Year 1

                                           $2,000:  Year 2

                                           $1,500:  Year 3
