QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or equivalent; or a valid CDA credential for appropriate setting
- Applicants will also be considered if they are willing to meet an approved compliance plan to earn needed credentials.
- Ability to use computers, software and other current technology
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in classroom settings, acting at all times as a representative of the St. Joseph County ISD
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certified and TB test.
- Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day
- Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communication, written and oral with parent, family and program data and reports and other program staff.
- Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in classroom or family child care home, acting at all times as a representative of the ISD.
- Engage in activities with children at their physical level.
- Create an overall supportive, nurturing, strength based atmosphere.
- Implement Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline during classroom and family child care visits.
- Provide child care for evening meetings as required.
- Provide resources for families and children as requested
- Implement high quality developmentally appropriate practice.
- Adhere to the Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards (1305.52(i)(1)(i-iv).
- Communicate with Early On, Early Head Start, GSRP and Early Childhood Special Education as needed for collaboration throughout programs.
- Attend and engage in continuous professional development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Infants and toddlers.
- Partner in implementation of universal supports for all children.
- Maintain appropriate records.
- Involve families in community activities as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by St. Joseph County ISD Administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and conditions of employment are determined by the Board of Education.
