QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

 

  1. Associate’s degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or equivalent; or a valid CDA credential for appropriate setting
  2. Applicants will also be considered if they are willing to meet an approved compliance plan to earn needed credentials.
  3. Ability to use computers, software and other current technology
  4. Effective communication and organizational skills
  5. Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in classroom settings, acting at all times as a representative of the St. Joseph County ISD
  6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  7. CPR/AED and First Aid Certified and TB test.
  8. Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day
  9. Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Communication, written and oral with parent, family and program data and reports and other program staff.
  2. Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in classroom or family child care home, acting at all times as a representative of the ISD.
  3. Engage in activities with children at their physical level.
  4. Create an overall supportive, nurturing, strength based atmosphere.
  5. Implement Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline during classroom and family child care visits.
  6. Provide child care for evening meetings as required.
  7. Provide resources for families and children as requested
  8. Implement high quality developmentally appropriate practice.
  9. Adhere to the Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards (1305.52(i)(1)(i-iv).
  10. Communicate with Early On, Early Head Start, GSRP and Early Childhood Special Education as needed for collaboration throughout programs.
  11. Attend and engage in continuous professional development.
  12. Demonstrate knowledge of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Infants and toddlers.
  13. Partner in implementation of universal supports for all children.
  14. Maintain appropriate records.
  15. Involve families in community activities as appropriate.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by St. Joseph County ISD Administration.
